Lending rules

The libraries in Solna provide you with access to a variety of diverse services free of charge. All you need is a library account and a pin code.

Create a Library Account

Borrowing books and other media is free of charge provided you first create a library account. Account registration occurs at the library or on the library website solna.se/bibliotek. All are welcome to create a library account, however if you are under 18 years old you are required to have written permission from a legal guardian.

My Pages/"Mina sidor"

When you register an account with us, you receive a library card and personal login details together with a self-generated pin code. This allows you to access Mina sidor where you can perform several functions such as loan renewal and book reservations.

Blocking Lost Cards

Library cards are valuable and should be immediately blocked when lost. This is done by contacting one of our libraries.

Loan Period

  • Normally – 28 days
  • Reserved books – 14 days
  • Magazines – 14 days
  • Films – 14 days
  • Tv- games- 28 days

Renewals

If you wish to renew a loan you may do so at the library, telephonically or by logging into Mina sidor.se/bibliotek. You can only renew a loan twice. If the media you wish to re-loan is reserved by another library user you will be unable to renew your loan.

Reservations

Queuing in order to reserve a book costs 10kr (no fee applies to media and books from the children’s and young adult department). You can make reservations at the library or by logging into Mina sidor at solna.se/bibliotek

Interlibrary Loans

It is possible to order a book from another library (interlibrary loan) at a fee.  Read more about this on our webpage solna.se/bibliotek or speak to a member of staff.

Personal Data

All the libraries in Solna Stad save your personal data. These details are used to register current loans as well as to contact you when sending out reminders, overdue and reservation notices, fines and fees. Personal data is not used for any other purpose.

Your personal details are saved by our libraries until you request their removal or if your account remains inactive for five years. You reserve the right to have your personal details deleted within 30 days from the time of request, provided all loans are returned and debts settled. General terms of agreement / rules

  • You are solely responsible for the books and media loaned to your account. Legal guardians are responsible for the loans made by their minors.
  • A compensation fine is required for the late return of books and other media, see the amount below. Delayed payments entail you having to pay default interest. The library also claims an extra fee for the written reminder. Unpaid debts ultimately go to an external debt collector.
  • In full reimbursement plus a fee of 40sek is required for lost or damaged media and books.
  • If you do not comply with our terms or fail to pay your debt the library reserves the right to suspend your right to make further loans.

Fees and Fines

  • Late media: 20sek/media for each started week
  • Late 10-day loans: 10sek/day (does not exceed 100sek per item)
  • Lost Library card: 25sek (adults only)
  • Reservation fee for all media: 10sek
  • Interlibrary loans within Sweden: 20sek/book

All decisions regarding fees and fines have been made by Solna Stad Culture and Recreation Committee.
